I grew up super poor

Hey gorgeous!💋

Welcome to my beauty blog where today we are talking about money 😂.

Hear me out. I'm switching gears a little bit because even though💰money💰 is a loaded topic and may seem a bit weird, it falls under the category of "female empowerment" in my opinion and lets be honest that's really at the core of what I'm all about.

So today I want to share an article that one of my mentors wrote that is all about how she became a self-made millionaire, but first let me tell you WHY I feel like money is a female empowerment issue:

When women have money we use it for the collective good.

We take care of our families and others, we start foundations, and in general we have a desire to GIVE.

I grew up really really poor.  Like, shopped out of church closets and paid for groceries with food stamps kind of poor.

So I know what it's like to NOT have money and although I am not "rich" yet.. It is a desire of mine, and it comes from a place of wanting to be of service.  Don't get me wrong I want to take big luxe vacations too, but more than that, I want to use money to help and empower others (especially women).

I think money is awesome and it is a TOOL that can help you and I achieve our wildest dreams, but we have to start thinking of it a little differently, and to do that we have to start opening up the conversation.

It took me a while to get to the place of loving money and thinking of it differently and I still have some things to work on, but my mindset around it has DRASTICALLY changed.

I have learned so much over the last two and a half years and one of the people who has changed how I think about money is Denise Duffield-Thomas.  She helped me to realize that making more money could be easy, but also even spiritual!

Today I wanted to share with you one of my favorite articles she wrote on her blog all about becoming a self-made MILLIONAIRE!

It is a great article and one that gives me hope and excitement about my own goal to become a millionaire.  Yep there I said it out loud.. I want to be a millionaire!

That may not be your goal and that is totally ok!  Even so this is a really great article about money lessons from someone who grew up poor, and became rich and is using the lessons she's learned along the way to inspire and empower woman all over the world.

P.S.  I know this is a touchy topic for some and I want to respect that, I hope you know that everything I talk about here comes from a place of love and wanting to empower you to shine as brightly as you can.  I believe to do that, money has to be at least PART of the conversation, and I believe I have some helpful things to add to the conversation.💘
